They Got Me REAL Good!

Hello Darlings,

So, I'm here in Perth with my family for a surprise birthday trip. Not only was it just a surprise trip but everyone else had other surprises organized for me too.

Several weeks ago my girlfriends had booked me for lunch on the 24th of January which was great because I wanted to catch up with them for a good chit chat.

What I didn't know was: Lunch was just a diversion to get me out of the house. Sneaky.

The sad thing was that I couldn't even work it out that they were all in on it. It must have been the pregnancy brain that I've been suffering for the last few weeks. When I have conversations with people, I forget the details and sometimes I just don't catch on. How could I have missed it? I'm usually always on the ball and sharp. I'd sense something isn't right straight away.

This has been in planning for 3 weeks and I HAD NO IDEA!

My mother got the ball rolling by contacting my friend via Facebook and asked what she thought of a baby shower for me and she was in straight away. Mum wanted to add her as a friend on Facebook and my friend, D, knew me so well...she knew that I would think something was up if I saw that they suddenly became Facebook friends. SMARTY PANTS. So they continued to plan the event via private messages. D organized all the high school friends and Mum organized the food and the house.

HOW COULD I BE SO SLOW?

Now that I look back, there were so many signs that I ignored and thought nothing of it. My sister even accidentally mentioned "baby shower" in front of me a few days earlier but I didn't even pick up anything while my other sisters were staring at her with dagger eyes. Hah!

I woke up on Sunday morning at about 7am to prepare a waffle breakfast for the family. Something we usually look forward to once in a while because it's so evil! I rolled around, until it was time to have a shower, then I went on my laptop and waited for D to come and pick me up at 11. I thought I would be surprising her with my baby boy gift to her...OBVIOUSLY not.

D and T took me out to Fremantle for lunch at Kailis. Thanks T for the treat! :) We took our time, eating and laughing. Then T suggested we go to the E Shed Markets, we got bored pretty quickly there. I was wondering why they kept on suggesting things to buy when I clearly couldn't care less for any Australian souvenirs! Another ploy!

After that we headed to Fremantle Markets, we thought that Gelare would sit well after lunch. We got there and realized that we didn't want any. Haha! So we proceeded to the markets to have a look see look see. D thought some Turkish food seller was cracking on to me (she was clearly jealous, he was hot. haha!). While D was buying her Morrish Nuts, she was in between a funky, greasy haired hippy guy who was taking care of the shop for the owner for a few minutes and he said, "Peace be upon you" in Arabic which freaked D out and she thought he was cracking on to me too. Akwarddddd.

We then decided that Boost Juice was just want we were craving for and waddled walked down the cappacino strip slowly to get our refreshing drinks. Thanks for the treat D, she did put up a fight with me and the poor counter girl was taken aback. Whops.

T, being T, walked past the t-shirt shop and asked if they had a shirt saying, "It's not rape if you say 'surprise'!". That has got to be the funniest line ever! It's ok, my friends actually have a sense of humor that most Asian wouldn't really understand, so don't be freaked out, Aussies can be crude in the funniest way! :)

And so we walked and walked and walked around Fremantle. T wanted to go to the backpack shop and D wanted to go to Myers, I was already feeling the pain in my feet from the walking. I was worried about D because she was already 25 weeks pregnant. She said she was fine, I BET SHE WASN'T! They delayed leaving Fremantle for a while and when we finally did, we stopped at the McDonald's drive thru for a slushie and then T was driving 50km p/hr in a 70 zone. I just brushed it off, thinking that she was just taking her sweet time...20km p/hr BELOW the limit!

D and T were constantly checking their mobile phones for messages, turns out they were messaging each other about what delaying tactics they had to do next! What the!?

When we got back to my place just after 3pm, I noticed a lot of cars at the front. That STILL didn't tip anything off...how stupid was I? I thought that my sister's friends had all come up from Mandurah to help her pack her room up. I'm so slow. I got in and all the shoes were at the front door, all piled up. I STILL DIDN'T GET IT. I just wondered why my sister had so many friends over. I was also wondering why there were so many shoes and why it was so quiet...perhaps they were out the back chilling out and chatting...I'm SO SLOW.

I walked through the curtains and suddenly I heard, "SURPRISE!!" AHAHAHAHAHA! I nearly cried! I didn't know what the surprise was for either. SO SLOW. Only until my sisters told me it was my actual baby shower that I realized what was going on! Many of my friends from high school were there and I had NO idea ANY of this was going on. Those horrible, horrible, horrible friends! No one told me! They all knew for a while, EVEN MR. MAN KNEW ABOUT IT.

After the "surprise!"

I'm usually the one planning and organizing these things and this time around, I got punked!

There was so much happening with my friends, people were getting married and having babies too! Some were travelling around the world to exotic places for long periods of time. How time flies when we're growing up. It's been 10 years since we left high school and we've all started to make progress in our lives.

Yes, we played games!

It wasn't a surprise that D also organized a crazy game for us to do. The first one was tame and with no surprises, M (aka perezhilton.com's most popular Australian visitor) got most of the celebrity baby answers!

The most rediculous game was to eat custard from a diaper, it was so sick and GROSS and I only got to the first Malteeser but T down the other side of the table had SLURPED it all up within 2 seconds. FAR OUT!

It came with so much laughter!

Opening the presents from all of my friends. Thanks a million!

It was a beautiful day that I got to share with my friends and family.

You guys really got me this time. I'm impressed with your stealth like skills.

xoxo,
Sweet Success

P.S. I had the biggest cankles by the end of the day from all that walking around in Fremantle, but it was worth it!

I want to thank Perez for my winnings, he should definitely get a commission or something haha...

If only I used my brains for good instead of evil, I could be a multi-millionaire by now! But instead, I just know a disturbing amount about the names of celebrity babies. WEIRD!
